Leadership Services: Schools

We know that when support meets challenge, people learn.

Our services provide you the approach, tools, and experiences necessary to create an open learning culture among students, educators, and parents.

A culture that promotes the intellectual and emotional competencies necessary to compassionately and courageously navigate the rapidly changing world.

Bounce builds custom experiences to help you create the change you are seeking. Below are examples we've created for other schools.

Leadership Classes

Two-hour to two-day learning experiences that provide a combination of skill building and practice in the human art of leadership.

Emotionally Intelligent Teachers

Emotional Intelligence is the foundation for success. Through an experiential tour of the four domains of "EI," your teachers will develop a deeper understanding of themselves, their relationships with their students, and their capacity to navigate change. They will develop the foundation to:

  • Discover their unique potential and vulnerabilities
  • Use their emotions as data
  • Expand their perspectives
  • Make better decisions
  • Manage stress, conflict, and change with greater ease

Emotionally Intelligent Parents

Parenting is a challenge, and emotional Intelligence is the foundation for success. Just as important, when your parent with emotional intelligence your children have a role model for developing this key skill to their own success. Through an experiential tour of the four domains of "EI," parents will develop a deeper understanding of themselves, their relationships with their children, and their capacity to deal with the challenges that are a necessary aspect of parenting. Participants will develop the foundation to:

  • Understand emotional intelligence and how it contributes to success in all relationships, including those in families
  • Recognize their emotions and the choices available
  • Teach their children the EI skills appropriate for their age
  • Role model behavior they want their children to emulate
  • Make more collaborative parenting decisions

Teacher/Administrator as Coach

Do your teachers and administrators have the necessary skills to engage, develop, and empower those they lead? To maximize the productivity of their students and the cooperation of their colleagues? This experience affords participants the basic coaching skills they need to:

  • Be successful in the role of leader
  • Give, receive and appreciate constructive feedback
  • Listen actively with compassion
  • Shift from always offering an answer to asking a powerful question
  • Build the foundation to transition from teacher to leader

When Problem Solving is Not Enough: The Power of Polarity Management

Are your school and classrooms stuck in the middle of competing demands? Do solutions seem exactly right and then stop working after a short time? When problem-solving is not creating sustainable results, we offer a new perspective. Polarities are common interpersonal and organizational tensions always present in our work and in our lives. Trying to fix them wastes time, money, and energy. They exist not to be fixed, but to be managed. This experience enables you to:

  • Discover the prevalence of polarities in your school, classroom, and daily life
  • Understand why polarities produce conflict when poorly managed
  • Explore how polarities stem from our most cherished values and deepest fears
  • See problems through a new perspective
  • Manage polarities to create sustainable results

Shift Happens: Moving From Drama to Empowerment

The human brain is wired to notice and respond to problems. This problem-focused approach to working and living can result in unnecessary dysfunction and drama. The Empowerment Dynamic enables your teachers to:

  • Distinguish between a problem and outcome orientation
  • Recognize their habitual patterns of behavior and the roles they play in these patterns
  • Understand the change necessary to succeed at work and in life
  • Shift how they perceive and manage challenging situations

Bringing Courage to School

Everyone in your school has the capacity for courage. Yet not everyone recognizes or practices the different aspects of courage required in everyday work and life. This learning experience offers your teachers:

  • Individual courage profiles that promote awareness and action
  • Opportunities to explore strengths and challenges
  • Tools for engaging more courageously in the face of daily demands

Leadership Programs

Intensive two to six month long programs that provide foundational knowledge, practice through community service, and one on one or group coaching.

Teachers as Learners

Teachers dedicate their lives to guiding the future leaders of our communities and our world. Teachers as Learners is a personal and professional development experience that supports and challenges educators to bring who they are to the invaluable work they do. This program, coupled with our grade-specific curricula provides your administration, faculty, and student body the motivation, knowledge, and support to become powerful and inspirational leaders capable of transforming themselves, their school, and their world. Upon completion of this program school leaders will:

  • Understand their own strengths and vulnerabilities as leaders
  • See their students from a different perspective
  • Work with their fellow teachers and school community to influence and shape the learning environment and school culture
  • Become part of a network of innovators creating an educational system that promotes the intellectual and emotional development of young people.

Parents as Learners

While schools can make great strides in fostering a child's self-image and love of learning, parents remain the most powerful influence over their children's lives.

Our action based curriculum is designed to tap each parent's unique expertise in creating the strong family relationships and meaningful family experiences they desire. This program enables parents to see and affirm the gifts they and their children bring and to understand the challenges and opportunities in each developmental stage. Parents as Learners is an innovative program that gives parents the authentic connection with self they need to become the leaders and the role models they want to be.

Middle School Curriculum

ME, WE, World of Leadership

Through an experiential tour of the 4 domains of emotional intelligence, our middle school curriculum closes the gap between the knowledge our education system provides and the skills young people need to make good decisions and take courageous and compassionate action in our rapidly changing world.

In 6th grade, "The ME of Leadership" focuses on self-awareness and the self-management tools necessary to navigate through the often rocky terrain of middle school and beyond. Students connect their core (unique gifts, strengths, and values) to an individual service project.

In 7th grade, "The WE of Leadership" allows students to deepen their awareness of self while exploring how they show up in relationships with others. Students engage in a class community service effort, enabling them to practice relationship management skills for a purpose greater than themselves.

In 8th grade, "The World of Leadership" affords students s culminating leadership opportunity to lead themselves, others, and real social change. Through class "legacy projects," students identify a social problem that challenges their collective values; collaborate to create a solution; and lead a change effort to help build a better world.

Elementary Curriculum

Leading Ladies and Main Men

Do you remember your self-concept in the 4th grade?  Developmentally, this is the year we are first tempted to live from a place of who we think we should be rather than who we really are.  4th grade is often the birthplace of our personas-the masks we wear in pursuit of perceived success and acceptance.  Leading Ladies and Main Men are single - sex programs for 4th and 5th grade girls and boys, designed to cultivate young people's innate capacity for emotional intelligence, to inspire individual and collective growth, and to introduce the practice of service—planting essential seeds in the future builders of a better world.

Leadership Engagements

Engagements that provide a different perspective, accountability, and support.

One on One

Imagine facing your challenges with a strategic partner who offers encouragement, accountability, support, challenge, and honest feedback—someone who asks provocative questions that bring clarity and new possibilities.  Coaching is a customized, results-oriented process that strengthens an educator's ability to create the outcomes they want in both professional and personal arenas.  Bounce coaching sessions are conducted by phone or in person and generally focus on developing a leader's ability to assess and manage challenges and priorities while strengthening their leadership potential.

Team

Teams are often made up of talented individuals who perform well on their own and may not have the skills to bring their best when they work as a team. Team Coaching is designed to enable intact teams to realize greater impact through developing mutual respect, trust, communication skills, self awareness, appreciation of one another's strengths, and shared structures for collaboration.

Group

Coaching groups are designed to provide individuals from diverse work groups a supportive, challenging, and non-judgmental learning community to grow themselves and their leadership capacity. Group coaching facilitates focused and powerful conversations that are not readily available elsewhere in participants' lives. Individuals benefit from listening to and learning from one another's challenges and successes. Participants walk away with greater awareness of their own gifts, new tools and wisdom shared by others, and a community of support for their ongoing learning and development.
