10 Things…

Posted by Everyday Leader Share Your Voice

At first, I didn’t want to do it.  I thought it would take too much time and I really had other stuff I wanted to be doing.  But as I wrote my list, I realized what’s really important to me.  My parents are always talking about how you can’t take life for granted.  This list shows what brings me joy—I guess I’m starting to learn what I value most in life.  Here’s my list (there are 10 things because I am 10).  My dad had to do 39!

1)      My really old dog’s determination to keep trying to get up even when it’s hard.

2)      My mom’s way of dividing herself so that everyone has time with her.

3)      My dad’s ability to adapt to any environment.

4)      My sister’s giggle and how she cares for animals and the earth.

5)      My brother’s pouty face—I really do love him even though he drives me crazy.

6)      All the magical memories we have together.

7)      The fact that we have everything we need in our home to survive.

8)      My parents’ caring hearts and consideration for us and others.

9)      The feeling of accomplishment after I win a swim team race.

10)   The way root beer bubbles in my mouth.

Looking at my list, I realize what my values are—determination, compromise, adaptability, laughter, love, family memories, home, caring hearts, consideration, accomplishment, and root beer!
