Polarity Management - A concept whose time has come!

Ann Deaton and Kelly Lewis just spent a few days in DC with an amazing group of coaches and consultants learning about Polarity Management - a concept whose time has come!

In today's culture we are taught to define all difficult situations as problems that can be fixed. The truth is some "problems" are on-going and can never be solved in the traditional sense. These are polarities - situations in which both conflicting points of view are true.

Intuitively we all know that:

  • Leaders need to be conservative for stability and revolutionary for change
  • Managers and employees need training and must do their work
  • We all need to generate results and nurture the relationships in our life
  • All of us are faced with work commitments and home commitments

Yet what we (Ann and Kelly) didn't know was that none of the above are really problems to solve by choosing one and neglecting the other.  They are what we call polarities which are unavoidable and unsolvable.  The on-going, natural tension between them can be destructive and debilitating or can be managed and channeled into a creative synergy that leads to superior outcomes.

The challenge of leadership and sometimes life makes a little more sense today!  We can't wait to share this powerful perspective with our clients to help them make an even bigger impact!

Small Kelly Lewis Hello! Here are a few things that I have found support me in creating the life I want, keeping myself in check, and leading with courage and compassion: a slow walk with my hubby and our pups, my work, honesty with myself, the smile of another, and mother nature.
