Pin Dodge for a Purpose

The 8th grade Bounce curriculum is a culmination of our Me, We, and World model of leadership development.  (In 6th grade, students practice the "me" of leadership by connecting their personal values and sparks to a service project; in 7th grade, students practice the "we" of leadership by working in pairs to discover their common values and make a difference in their community.  And in 8th grade, students practice the "world" of leadership by collaborating as a whole class to create a Leadership Legacy Project).

This semester, Ms. Craver, Mr. Rankin, Ms. Sievert, and Mr. O'Dea combined their classes and students organized and mobilized an effort to raise money for NURU, an organization dedicated to fighting poverty in Africa through the principles of service leadership-- the very principles upon which the Bounce curriculum is based.

Through a pin dodge tournament (with team entry fees, class attendance fees, and NURU/Moody bracelet sales) , these 8th grade social activists raised over $500 for NURU... and realized their personal and collective power to create global impact.
