Bounce's Kelly Lewis was honored to present "Four Truths and a Lie"  at  HYPE’s signature 804UM event where young professionals came together to be inspired by some of the region's best speakers on leadership, motivation, entrepreneurship and innovation.

The Lie?

This is who I am.  I can't....

Scientific evidence from the field of neuroplasticity proves that we can change.  It's about choice and getting in the driver's seat of your own development.

The truths?
  • Development requires single loop learning  (horizontal development) and double loop learning (vertical development).  In the latter, the desired result is tied to a shift in action (what you do)  and requires skills and tools that can be transferred from an "expert" to you.  In the former, the desired result is tied to self (who you be)  and requires you to look inside and expand your perspective.  And then take action from that place.
  • IQ and technical skills (the head stuff) may get you the job, but EQ (emotional intelligence-- the heart stuff) sets you apart.
  • Knowing and Not Knowing are essential pieces in successful leadership. It's about the first step... and having the faith to take it.
  • We need a community of support and challenge in which to develop.   I am because we are.
At Bounce, we are changing the leadership paradigm from one that belongs to a select few to a process that requires something unique from all of us.
